Oh, now I see. It all makes sense, now. Why didn’t you just tell me out right from the beginning? I may have had some creative ideas on how we can better get it done. Not to say, that you don’t know what you are doing, or to say that you are not doing a good job, already. In fact, you are doing a splendid job at pushing Jesus out of society’s memory, and replacing Him with more “politically correct” and less offensive hybrids of Himself and man-made figurines. OOOOOH, now I see what you are doing!
I understand, and I even agree that half naked women and chubby little men with banjos are a lot less confrontation than a bloody man hanging on a cross, and professing that He is the only way to escape eternal damnation. Yeah, who wants to hear that? Besides, the short shorts and jolly smiles are a lot easier on the eyes, not to mention on the conscience.
Ooookay, now I understand why we don’t want those pesky ten commandments just lying around anywhere. Somebody may actually read them and realize that God has told us not worship anything else as a god. Man, this plan is ingenious. You have to tell me who thought this one out.
All you have to do is make people feel like Jesus is not the truth, but just a truth…maybe. Simply make people feel like His commandments are suggestions, rather than explicit instructions. I must admit, that is certainly an easier pill to swallow. I think you’re on to something.
This kind of reminds me of something I once read in the Bible, so I understand why you wouldn’t want anyone to know about it. I just can’t help but to think about this scripture when I see how society is attempting to slowly replace a true relationship with Jesus, with subtle suggestions of “True Religion” being found else where. Ah ha, the old subliminal underlining messages trick. You sly dog!
Check out what I recall God saying about the same thing as we are witnessing today. He said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. “The more they increased, The more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame. They eat up the sin of My people; They set their heart on their iniquity. And it shall be: like people, like priest. So I will punish them for their ways, And reward them for their deeds.” (Hosea 4:6-9)
